I have a Dewalt DW621 type 1 plunge router. I bought it in 1999 and used it some back then, but haven't used it in quite a few years. Recently I got it out to make a few Christmas presents and am having a problem. When I turn it on, it will briefly start then quit, forcing me to turn it off then on again repeatedly, in order to get it to finally run. It has a soft start feature controlled by an electronic module, which I suspect is the problem. I went to Dewalt's website, the module costs $64.49 and is back ordered, which makes me suspect a high failure rate. I was very happy with the router before this problem.
Here are my questions:

Does anyone else have any knowledge or experience with this model?
Considering the possible high failure rate for the module, would I be better off to replace the module, or save my money and buy a different plunge router, and if so, do you have any good recommendations?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brent

I would suggest you place the module on order and when it comes in put in place.

Then you have a new router that you can use ..they just may have a upgrade for it..and with some luck they may replace it at no charge if they had errors with that part..it's always worth the shot can't hurt to ask...they do back up what they make :)
