Bosch RA1617EVS meets Kempston 99000

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum/forums in general.
I am hoping to find answers to my most recent dilemma.
I am beginning to use my new Bosch 1617 router and I know that it probably would have been simpler to stick with their product line but, after considerable research, I would like to order the favourably reviewed Kempston 99000 10 pc, template guide set.
MY QUESTION IS:
I see that it does have a base plate adapter included in the kit and I'm wondering if that adapter can sub for the RA 1126 quick change template guide adaptor and Ra 1100 threaded template adapter (which I already have, but not the 1126). It appears that one can bark up a few wrong trees when trying to mary these tools.
I would appreciate some feedback on this specific issue.Thanks.

Thumbs down on the Kempston set because it has different length collars. A similar set like the one from Woodcraft or Lee Valley that has all the collars a uniform height of .240" is a better choice. The Kempston kit is just a universal kit sold by many companies and the adapter will not work with your 1617. Just so you know using the quick release adapter with the RA1100 PC style guide bushing adapter lets you change your guide bushings much easier and faster since a flip of the lever removes it from the router. This makes it very easy to remove the locking ring.

The RA 1126 adapter is a must. Nothing wrong with Bosch's template set either--the bayonet mount is very convenient. I also like the Bosch dust collection port which fits perfectly with the adapter. Nice to clear that dust out as you go. Your two Bosch adapters will also let you use the Porter Cable template set. I'm coming to the point where I'm buying only within the system I choose. All that mixing and matching (and mismatching) wastes bucks.

Thank you as well Tom for your good advice.
Because my shop is warm when fired up and very cold or humid when not, I thought templates guides,if not used regularly, would withstand the condensation better if they were made of brass. Is the RA 1100 only used if one chooses to use another brand of template guides? I suspect the Bosch guides just pop in and out of RA 1126 ??

Hi

That's good now you can buy the HF ones for only 15.oo bucks, the longer one do come in handy you can always cut them down if needed but it's best to use 1/2" thick MDF for your templates they will last last and don't flex...I must have about 200 of the brass guides.. :)
