Hello to the group. I am a long time woodworker and was browsing the internet on info on bearing noise with the re 600 ryobi router and came across this site. I thought I was out of luck in getting replacement bearings for my discontinued router until I read a few posts here.
Is it a simple matter to replace the bearings myself? If so does ryobi supply new bearings or must one go elsewhere to get them? Sources?

Hi Dick, welcome to our little corner of the 'net.

You could check with Ryobi for the bearing, but chances are you are out of luck with them. You would be better to go to a bearing supply house or an electric motor repair shop. There should be a number on the bearing that will allow them to supply you with the correct replacement. As for removal, some are pressed on which require a bit more force to remove. Not sure which you have, so can't help there.

Well as long as it's a ryobi, I would just junk it...

I had a ryobi table saw that needed warranty work. I found the problem and askd ryobi for a part to replace the defective one...they sent me a used (not even cleaned up!) part as a replacement.

I will never own anothe piece of ryobi junk!

+1 on the bearing supply store. I went to my store for bearings for my 15 yr old 14" Delta bandsaw and they gave me three models to choose from!

I also have an RE600 (one of eight routers total) and really like how it feels in my hands, so use it quite a bit for larger handheld cuts. I'm not generally a big Ryobi fan but that router is at *least* 18 years old and works like a champ. Ryobi's had a few pretty nice products. I started out with one of their BT3000 table saws and, even though I now have a Unisaw, if I had (when I get <g>) room I'll look to add one as a second TS to my shop.

I haave The Ryobi tools, and if You don't throw them at Toyr floor, They work Great. I would say that a bear company, or a nice tool store could fix You up with bearings. If You don't have a book from ryobi with You can get the information on line. Ryobi may have bearings and be able to deliver, A bearing Co. May be able to get them to You very quickly! Good ****!
