Really bad looking yard sign

On top of all the real work I have going on I learned my church was buying new signage. Because it was pretty pricey I volunteered to cut the signs and logos, etc. and then mount them in place (I really don't like doing work anywhere except my shop, but...).

So there are two signs that will say WORSHIP, one for each front entrance to the sanctuary. These are 72" x 10" cut out of Baltic Birch and I'll paint them later today or tomorrow using silver hammertone paint.

I took the waste out to the trash can for pick up tomorrow and then thought, 'Hey, I can put these in the yard for some really bad looking yard signs!' The HOA won't allow anything like this normally but it's only for a day and with all the Christmas decorations in yards I don't figure it will hit anyone's radar.

Cool. Our church had a few signs made like this out of metal. They have used them mainly as templates to make other signs. Put them together, fill the crack, put a frame around them and backlight with a solar LED and you have a striking sign.

I think they look pretty good. But I'm betting you are right about your HOA Personally, I think HOAs should be declared illegal.

That may look better when it is put up, but for now I like the other one better.

Obviously you've never had a junkyard neighbor. They serve a purpose but can be overbearing. So yeah, there can be problem HOAs and others that keep things very reasonable says the guy that's been his HOA's president for the past 13 years. And no, never had a complaint from anyone in it....just saying.
Our HOA is good and I stop by the office often to visit with the manager. Their office is just inside the gate and I pass by all the time so it's easy to drop in and just say hello. Maybe that's why I don't have any issues with them (or them with us) but with very few exceptions I would rate them as top notch.

I have to confess that I have messed with them from time to time. When we tore out everything in our flowerbeds we left them bare for a bit longer than the frequent neighborhood 'complainers' liked so they reported us to the HOA. The HOA did their thing and sent us a letter and I met with the president about it. He said to just do something in the beds to keep the couple of complainers off his back. So I had a sign printed and placed it in the bare beds; the sign read, "Doing it right takes time"

He saw the sign and just cracked up, said "Good 'nuff!"

I've watched videos on youtube about HOAs and the things they do. Even after the flag act, they still tell people they cannot fly the American flag. Saw one where a homeowner got put in a hospital in Florida, while on vacation. His lawn didn't get mowed. So the HOA sent him letters, but of course, he did not get them. His HOA fined him, but he didn't get notified. By the time he got out of the hospital and returned home, the HOA had put a lien on his home, for the fines, foreclosed, and sold his home. You couldn't pay me to live anywhere with a HOA.
That's a pretty bad HOA, Theo. Ours is at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Btw, our really bad yard sign was picked up yesterday and joined the trash pile at the dump.

I guess you could say that about almost anything like maybe marriage. You see some people get divorced so it must be bad. Really?.....>:)
We don't have an association, but occasionally I wish we did. A number of people on the street have upgraded our yards, added fencing, etc., but the guy across the street parks his ugly semi in his front yard! Dang. Police don't seem to bother with enforcement. Out here on the desert there are tons of places you can park big trucks, but noooooo, tear up the pavement and make the neighborhood look bad on weekends when potential buyers are checking out homes for sale. NUTS!
Ain't no such thing as an ugly semi.
If you got it, a truck brought it!!
