Welcome to the forum. I haven't used that type of bit, had to Google it, do you mean one like this?
Which router do you have? The ones I've used the metal of the base is nearly the size of the plastic so stability should be ok. I might not slide smoothly, so you'll need to control it without being tense etc. And you don't want the collet to touch the wood.
