:confused:I have a Craftsman Router - model # 315.17492. When I press the start button - it starts sometime with a noise. If I rotate it - something in the motor assembly is loose. The loose part and not always starting may be related. I have the base off and - with much time - the end cap off. I then rotate the motor assembly and hear the loose part. I need help getting into the motor area to check out the noise.
Answers to my problem/s?
Thank you!

Hi Dan. Welcome to our little corner of the 'net.

You can download a copy of the manual for your router here: 315-17492. Unfortunately, it doesn't go into great detail on disassembling the motor.

I'm thinking that either you have a bearing gone bad (usually the one on the collet end as it takes all the stress) or maybe one of the brushes is hanging up on the armature.

Much easier to check the brushes, start there, see if they are worn all the way down.
