Repetitive Fluting

Can anyone suggest a pattern or jig for fluting? I want to cut 3 -1/2 inch grooves in stock that is about 2 1/2 inches across. My first inclination is just to set the fence on my table 3/4 inch from the centre of the bit, switch ends, repeat and adjust the fence to dead centre of the stock and cut the final groove. I purchased an Amana Core Box bit that is 1/2 inch in diameter. Thanks in advance. -Derek
