Rotary Axis Project

I had a nice block of oak mounted on my rotary axis for the last few months. It was waiting there until it decided what it wanted to be.
Inspired by a discarded pedestal table that was saved by a member of another forum I asked the oak board if it would mind being the center post of a pedestal table similar to the one shown in that thread. It excitedly agreed and here are a few photos of it's progression from a squared block to a fancy contoured table post.

Dovetail cuts were done as X/Y/Z pocket and profile toolpath after the shape was flipped end to end for access to the bottom end. Flat surfaces 120 degrees apart all got a pocket clearance cut followed by of profile on-the-line dovetail bit undercut pass.

Followed up cutting out the legs and the male dovetail on the top of them. Tapered to match the tapered slots cut in the post. Good fit.

Table base stands up now. Needs a top. May have to go shopping for some wood.

Found some wood for the top.
Final stance of assembled pedestal table. Note that every part and the joinery between them was cut using a CNC. A handheld trim router took care of rounding over the table top edge and the leg edges.

I plan on using cherry stain to match the color of it with other furniture I have. I've also just glued up a longer block of wood to make the post for a taller version with a little fancier detail/style.
