Thinking about buying this Router on Amazon for 202.16.

What would you like to know about it? That is the second version of the router. The newest version sells for $194 and you can see forum member BrianS taking one for a test drive.

I've had one for a bit now, was using it today. I've also had an M12V for about 5 years. The V2 has a little smother plunge action. Both are smooth and powerful. The V2 is designed better for use in a table. If you remove the plastic baseplate there is a 13mm nut on the end of the adjustment rod that you can put a socket on and run the router up and down from the table top. I just noticed today that the plastic socket on the other end of the threaded rod is split so that part should have been metal. It's under warranty (5 yrs) still so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Would I buy another one? Yes. In fact I bought an M12VC since then.

Howdy Dennis. I have 3 of these routers, they are a bit cumbersome to adjust the depth. As far a s power they like to work. I have all of mine set depth on their own base plates for my router tables so I just drop them in my router table and they are already setup for depth I use over and over again. (I.E. Lock Miters etc) But they do like to hog the lumber.

I bought an M12VC about 6 months ago when it was on sale. I haven't used it a lot but it is also a very smooth, fairly powerful router. It has a lower center of gravity that the M12V or V2 so it is a little nicer for handheld jobs where you don't need a plunge. It will still spin large bits but will have to work harder than the 3 1/2 hp models. I didn't get the combo kit since I already had 2 big plungers. I haven't had any problems with any of mine except for one little plastic part on the V2 that is worth $1.37 from Ereplacement Parts.

In the time that I've been on the forum, I really haven't seen much said about any of the Hitachi routers that was bad, at least no more than any other major brand.

The M12VE is the latest version of the 3-1/4 hp router. They come with a 5 year warranty. This is a decent machine similar in style to the DeWalt 625 for a lot less money.

The M12VC is a 2-1/4 hp router styled after the Bosch 1617EVS. Often sold in combo kits the motor switches between bases. Hitachi confused a lot of people with their model numbers.
