I have three Whiteside router bits that have chips on the end. They are solid carbide up cut bits. The wood I have been cutting is all hardwood and Russian birch grade 3/B.

I thought it might be something I was doing. I wish I could find out what causing the chip out so I can fix it. I will call WS and see what they say.

resonation/vibration/run out can do it..
something that you see w/ cheapo bits or a bearing getting ready to give it up...
check for shaft play and/or run out...

since solid carbide bits can be fragile/brittle ''chatter'' can be detrimental...
