I've never seen something like that. Do you still have the instruction book? That might be your best bet. I would hesitate to remove if it isn't interfering with the operation of the tool. I notice there is a recess for it, which is why I wouldn't remove it.

BTW, welcome to the Forum.
Hello
No unfortunately my father bought it without a manual but I will look for one on the internet maybe it is a good idea.
Thanks Tom

Welcome to the forum, Diego. I've had a few of that model and I don't remember ever having the wire. I think it serves no purpose. Take it out and put it in a drawer. Is your Dad a woodworker ?
hi jhon
yes i also think it has no purpose as such but my father wanted to know so i searched the internet and that's how i found this forum
yes usually my dad likes to work with wood

Tom - I've had a few of that model and never saw or had the need for that spring wire in any of them. Looking at mine this morning, I can see no reason why it is there. And that one having survived for so many years indicates the base plate was very rarely removed, if at all. Tis indeed a mystery.
I see the spring listed as Part #39 in a few places but no information on what it is for.

I know, my father made me search all over the internet for the function of that part but I didn't find more than the list you show me.
by the way thank you for taking the time to check your router and answer.
