Router lock

Hello All

My question is this:
I have a heavy 3HP router in a table. It has a stud on the side of it that raises it up when needed. Do I need to use the lock each time? It will not go down because of the screw stop on the side. The only way it can go is up, but I think the weight will hold it down.

What do you think?

Who made the router, are you talking about the pole stop.

For safety use the lock each time you set up your router.
Many people use a car scissors jack to raise the router without too many problems but very few seem to lock the router.
They rely on the weight to hold it down.
I would never rely on this.
The lock is there for a good reason so use it all the time.
