The Router Workshop was broadcast on PBS for 11 seasons. Now you can only find it in limited viewing areas on PBS, other than that you have to watch the shows on the web at the address BJ listed. The show will open your eyes to easier ways to complete jobs. The simple polyurethane fence does a perfect job for most applications. The Bosch 1619 is top rated, and owned by some staff members. I own a PC 7518 and in a table it will do the heavy work just fine. You do not want to use it hand held, trust me. I also own a pair of Bosch 1617's and they are my favorites, get the most use. I have other routers too, but the main idea is to be able to get the job done easily, quickly and with the minimum amount of effort.

milwaukee 5625 owners, do you use a plate or just cut a small hole in the table and direct mount? do you use a lift?

pc 7518 owners, do you use a lift with the pc 7518 or is it reasonable to raise/bit change without a lift?

I don't have a Milwaukee but you should not just drill a hole out and direct mount the router to the table it should be mounted to a base plate so you can just drop it in the router table, most table tops are from 3/4" to 1 1/2" thick,so if you direct mount the router to the table you will NOT have the full stroke of the router. that's to say most routers can only move the bit up or down by 2 1/2" the norm.

Many of the PC 7518 owners remove the springs in the router so then can move it easy in the table mount, it's a big router but with the springs removed it's easy to move it up or down.

This will show how to remove the springs in a PC but not the PC 7518 but it will give you a show and tell on most of the routers

I had my PC890 mounted directly to the table top, and scrapped that.. Got a Rousseau insert and am very pleased with how easy it was to install, and the way it works..
I also use the plunge base with the springs removed.. Made a little screw jack for fine height adjustment..

I have a PC 7518 mounted to my router table, and I don't of any springs on that model. I'm confused, I have to turn the body to adjust the height.

Hi Rolf. The reason you don't have springs is your router has a fixed base.

Does the 7518 come with a plunge base?
