Hi Dave and welcome. Last time I looked at lifts a few years back some offered motors only to fit their lifts. That's all you need for a lift is just the motor. You don't need the base unless you plan on taking it out occasionally to use hand held but very few people would bother removing it on any regular basis.

Lots of routers can be adjusted from above the table these days. Hitachi's M12V2 that I use can be, Bosch 1617, Triton, and Milwaukee for sure. I know there are others but I'm just not sure which ones. You do have to lock them. I leave mine open because I work from both sides of my table so it's not that mush of an issue.
