Contest Entry

Okay.... I'll go first with my newly completed baby cradle for our first grand baby due around the 1st of November. This project was done in rustic style as requested by the expecting parents. It was a somewhat complicated project as everything and I mean EVERYRHING had to be done on bevel. There was a large amount of roundover routing involved as well.

Would love to place and win something from Bob and Rick. I watch them all the time on the Woodworking channel. (My router heros)

Enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking.

When my wife bought a new TV the old stand just wouldn't do. I designed this myself and built it with 3/4" pine. It is finished with Cabot Early American stain and several coats of water based urethane. There are spaces for the VCR, DVD player, TV and stereo on open shelves. The two bottom drawers are on full extension slides and hold DVDs and VHS tapes. European hinges are installed on the drawers. 1 1/4" brass pulls are used on drawers and doors.

Chest of Drawers

Attached is a picture of a chest of drawers that I have just completed. The unique feature of the construction is that it is made of wood that was being discarded by my grandson and his wife. They were cleaning up a just purched house and were discarding 12' pine boards that were 12" wide. I rescued some of the boards and had them planed down to clean them up. I can only guess as to how old the boards were. (20 or 30 or more years?)
I have made all appearing surfaces of this chest of drawers out of those boards (except the turning and the two vertical frt. boards)

Contest

Attached is my entry for the contest. It is a baby cradle I built in February 2006 for my first grandchild (grandson and maybe a future woodworker). It is made from Red Oak.

Waterproof glue used throughout & 4 coats of exterior acrylic latex applied to withstand splitting & weathering.

Old Truck

This one of my projects that I have ever built. I made this for my brother that owns his own business. I designed this truck my self. The body is made out of poplar and the fenders and running boards are made out of cedar. It features a toolbox in the bed, a ladder rack and a ladder on top.

vANI

Ok hope I did this right, here is my vanity with stool I built out of necessity for my wife a couple of months ago. It is hand painted( by my wife), the top is faux marble, it has two drawers on top and the middle of the cabinet raises for storage, the two bottom drawers are false fronts. The mirror swivels back/forth. This Vanity is my own design. Hope you like it.

Walnujt dresser

I made this dresser from walnut that I cut 19 years ago. In that time, the wood was stored and survived several moves, so I figured it was finally time to use it.
I used a stile and rail cutter around the mirror, the case frames, and the doors. I cut the pieces on my Delta band saw. The flame figure in the door panels comes from the same tree. The drawer has blind dovetails and the bottom is ½ inch-thick oak. I used cabinet grade lacquer for the finish. I also made the small table next to the dresser.
