What site is it? The last 2 years we have drastically changed how we deal with new sites, and all our sites.
The one you admin on, Hotrodders.com, Helena

It's better, but one post I did this morning - got lost somewhere. Again

Hey Dave,

Send Helena a PM about with the details on Hotrodders.com, one of us will pick that up and look into it ASAP. As far as popups, pop unders or ads that yell at you; these are not permitted on our network. If you ever do notice the site behaving strangely and this happening please PM this account with the details ASAP. Its rare that our ad networks will break or bend our rules but as soon as we know about it we can stop it and figure out who's hand will be slapped over it.

I like your reassurances about ads and advertising. There is nothing worse in my mind than incessant commercials. I watch virtually no TV any more because of the ads. It has gotten so bad you forget what program you were watching. I have a 55" TV and the only time it is used is when the kids come over and use it. Once in awhile I will break down and watch a football game, but here come the commercials ,one after another. I end up shutting it off and going out to my shop and working.

Quick question.
Who is Philip?
Who is Helena?
I know who Cricket is, but I can't remember anyone introducing Philip or Helena.
If they are administrators, how many does our forum have?

Phil was the first one to post in this thread, he is a community development rep here are VS

Im Helena, I manage the forum Management team here at VS

Phil and I are here to assist Cricket with the announcement of the sale, and will assist her if she needs help on the site.

There are now 11 of us on the FM team, so you may see them as well, we will soon put up a stickie in the site issues section to let you know who we all are.

But Cricket still runs the site, and is your go to, we are just here to help her out.

I am suggesting that we move our router forum somewhere else.
There are plenty of free ways to be able to exchange the sort of stuff we do without '11 of us on the FM(forum management I guess).
How is it that in subsequent messages from admin that the post count never increases from 28???. Maybe we should refer to forum management or should that be FM.
I think the putting up of a stickie is totally crude and the post should not have been allowed. What do THEY mean.
The site has been taken over by the techies, goodness help us.
We are woodworkers and although we may be have difficulty attaching images to posts we produce some amazing(not me, still trying) work.

What say you guys?
Cheers

Paul - they, I believe, now own this forum as well as the name and have paid money for them. It's a case of that's it unless you go elsewhere. They, in all honesty, don't do a bad job. It's just that some things will be different, i.e. pop up/under ads. As far as post count - I don't think that's why we are here. Also, post counts in the lobby, as in another forum where I belong that they own, don't count and may be so here.

Hi Paul, not really sure of the point you are trying to make?

As far as I am aware the forum is free to join, or not join, as one may decide.

The forum is not a small group of computer nerds sitting in their Moms basement, but an integral part of a larger organization.

A certain level of expertise is required to ensure that the forum functions in a viable manner.

Also, I see no evidence of the site being taken over techies.

All the posts I see are from woodworker to woodworkers.

Question

Hello Everyone,

My name is Philip; I am a new community manager joining the site and working alongside Cricket and Juan M.
Recently, VerticalScope acquired routerforums.com from Escalate Media and have taken over all webmaster duties for the Escalate Media team on routerforums.com. We have been working very closely with the site staff on making sure this transition has been seamless and positive for everyone. The organization and leadership you are used to on the site every day will still be here as well as the spirit of the community everyone has helped to develop and maintain. There are very few changes expected to happen over the next few weeks while we work to settle in. To give you all a little idea of what we do and why we are here I have broken down some of the basic questions that I am sure most of you have.

Who are you, VerticalScope?
VerticalScope is a company of enthusiasts that supports both enthusiasts and professionals. We manage multiple online communities that work to engage users with a broad spectrum of themes and interests. Our focus it to continue the steady growth of these communities while working to maintain the passion and spirit that make each one unique. From community management to the tech end of things our team brings the resources and experience to help the site continue to grow by raising the quality of user’s experience.

What are our intentions?
We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with the community and the board staff to help provide the resources required to give this community a broader reach. This works to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community. Over time the community grows further and becomes an even better resource of information on the subjects you love so much.

Will leadership change?
Cricket and Juan M will remain your primary community managers here. Continuity is an important focus for us; YOU as the membership of this community have helped to set the positive tone. New members are made to feel welcome and should want to continue to contribute to the growth of the site. The same Mods and Admins you have grown to appreciate will not change and will still be here to help you and keep the site clean and free of distractions. The VerticalScope team are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on and there are as few bumps in the road as possible. We recognize that each community is unique and having respect for this is paramount to us. Since the beginning the moderator team has established the unique rules and regulations that will continue. The community has also established a strong reputation that makes the site inviting and engaging to all users new and more experienced.

What am I here for?
My primary role is working with Cricket and Juan as the technical contact for the site. You can think of me like the man behind the curtain in the wizard of oz. The community and moderation staff built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am part of the team keeping the lights on inside while we all enjoy the exchange of information and ideas. We will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes.

I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.

Thanks,
Philip
How do I go about posting a question on here? I'm new to this. Thanks, Lynn
