Hi I'm new to wood working have a question I'm not sure about I just bought a porter cable dovetail jig I have a Craftsman router will this work with this jig

You might have to get an aftermarket baseplate for your router to install the PC-style guide bushing I am sure that jig uses. That's actually a good thing as hardly any factory baseplates are centered well enough to work with dovetail jigs.
I just did a story on centering the guide bushings and used a baseplate from Woodcraft that worked well with the PC guide bushings and even came with a centering tool. This is a small investment that will make life with a dovetail jig way easier!
