Sharpening Router Bits

I am sure this question has been asked before but here goes... I need info on getting my raise panel bit sharpened. As you know those bits cost approximately $135,00 so I don't want to just send it to anyone. I would appreciate if some people who have had experience with this or those who know a good reliable source, in Canada, would reply

Thanking you in advance.

Hello kimbert, Welcome to the RouterForums :)

I found this article on Sharpening Router Bits, I have sharpened a few of my own bits with out any problems. It was tedious but so far so good. One suggestion is check with one of your local Mill Works or Cabinet makers shops to see who they use to sharpen there blades and bits. It might be worth it to do it your self.
I do know what you mean being a retired tool and diemaker. You can but not all the time is sharpen your own. What you can do with the stone is remove the burr mostly. Sharpening requires putting an edge on each flute exacly as the last, so all are the same. Some cutters can not be sharpened because you need to hold the sizes such as dovetails. If it requires more than a dozen or more strokes of the stone than you need an expert. Call as suggested other wood workers or call tool grinders in the phone book. Always consider what and how the tool is used because sharpening means it is making it smaller.

The folks that make Forrest brand saw blades also sharpen router bits and any brand of saw blades too. They work magic with any dull bit or blade. I send my stuff to them all of the time. The price is right and the turn around time is very quick.
