Signature on finished project

2366 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  woody123444
A couple of months ago someone posted a way to make signature plates by printing the signature on a laser printer, transfering it to the wood and then burning. Unfortunately, I didn't save the post and now want try the method. Anybody remember what I am referring to? Anybody have any other suggestions? I'm not into wood burning, so this is new for me. Thanks.

You can transfer a laser printout to wood in several ways. After placing the printout face down on the wood you can dampen the paper with lacquer thinner or wintergreen oil and then burnish it down to transfer the printout. This technique works best when the wood is sanded very smooth. Another option is to use a rubber stamp to mark your work. I use one that is fast drying and intended for multi-surfaces. Here's what my rubber stamp looks like on the back of a sign.

Thanks. I think this is close (enough) to the previous post that I remember (but my memory is not what it used to be). Sounds good, and I will try it. I am making a set of mail boxes for my daughter's office and think that this would be a classy way to label them. I'll do the labels on separte wood pieces so that the names can be changed as needed.
Really like your rubber stamp and love your business card!
