I would say yes, as long as it does NOT have a "soft-start" motor. Also make sure it is rated for no less than the same amps your router motor is rated for.

You can use an electronic speed control. A plain rheostat? No, unless it'shuge! Then you could also us it to heat your shop!

The HF unit is not a simple rheostat, it is a electronic speed control that is controlled by a rheostat controlling a solid state device to vary the speed. :)

Great question. Anyone know if I can use that HF speed control on a Bosch 1617evspk? I have one in the table and it would be nice to use one on it rather than bending over to do it on the router.

No, definitely not. The 1617EVSPK has soft start. Do not use any electronic speed control. :(
