Spiral bit went deep

I am building a tool box and needed to rout 1/4" by 1/4" deep grooves. The 1/4" up spiral bit loosened and began to drill itself deeper into the groove. I realized in time to save it from going right through the board.

There is only about a 1/16" left. The hole will be hidden by the front panel spline. How would you fill the hole to strengthen it? White glue and sawdust? Epoxy?

Thanks,

Jamie.

I agree with Stick.
I don't if Stick meant Durham' Rock Hard or not but it's the one I use. It's often harder than the wood you put it on. It's a dry powder that you mix with water and you have from 30 minutes to an hour to use it up. The powder never goes bad so that is another selling point and it's relatively cheap too.

I'm sure Charles left out "know" (I don't "know" if Stick meant--).The weird thing is I didn't realise the word know was missing until I saw Stick's "I don't"post.Anyone else see the missing word at first??

A piece of 1/4" dowel. Either cut a really short length and drive it in the hole with some glue or fill the hole with the dowel and redrill it.
I would re route to an even depth, then glue a strip of wood, and then re rout the groove to the correct depth.

Iphonese is when your brain is working at twice to three times the speed your thumb is. And the answer to the second part is because I'm a really nice guy or because you invented typonese. I think. Yeah, I'm going with that.
you lost me at ''nice guy''....
