Suggestion for MicroStep

I am just about finished with the WoodSmith magazine CNC router. I am looking for suggestions for MicroStep resolution. The X-axis motor is a NEMA 34, 1.8 degree step angle, 5.5 amp. I am using a 1/2" lead screw which displaces the gantry .5"/revolution. The Y and Z axis use the same lead screw by the stepper motors are NEMA 23, 1.8 degree, 2.8 amp. Also, when selecting the Drive output amps to the motors should this be above or below the motor rating.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Add your first name to your profile so it clears the N/a in the side panel and so we'll know what to call you. Add your location, as well.

Someone should be along shortly to help with your calculations and questions. I'm curious why you used the more powerful motor for X instead of for Y, though...

Set the microstepping to 1/8 or 1/10 (1600 or 2000).
Set the drive current to the motor's rating, or slightly below. Setting it too high will damage the motors.
