Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with Superior Electric collets for a Hitachi M12VC?
I need one to take 1/2 inch bits.
The reviews are mixed so looking for expert advice form the forum.
Thanks!

I was doing some searching a while back and came across them. The collet for the V2, VC, VE plus many Bosch and DeWalt routers is all the same collet. I’ve taken the one off my son’s 1617 and interchanged it with my Hitachi ones so I know it works. That tells me that that collet is outsourced by all 3 companies and it’s possible that Superior Electric is the source.

Thanks Charles, my 1/2 has disappeared for some reason. So I need to replace it. Hitachi does not seem to have the 1/2 available anymore, and its difficult to source from parts suppliers, many indicating that its been discontinued.

Charley, I looked at Elaire and I didn't see any collets for Hitachi. But with Charles info about the switchability between the Bosch and Hitachi models I will give them another look.

C I can’t see it being discontinued as it’s used by too many routers. I’m on with my phone right now so not easy for me to look it up but you can. Click on my user name and then my personal profile. In everyone’s profile is a menu bar with Statistics on it. Click on that and look for threads that I’ve posted (as opposed to posts Ive made). In the last six to twelve months I started a thread about collets and included the comparability list for that one. I got it off an eBay post and checked the 1617 against my V2 and VC and they interchange. The original V model is different but I think it’s the same as one of the older Makita collets. My personal opinion is that Makita and Hitachi are made in the same factory.
