Table saw for diy projects

Hey, Beast; welcome!

Personally I have a 15 yr old Delta contractor saw, but new it's considerably more expensive.
Where you're posting from may have some bearing on cost to you; can you fill out something about yourself...completely voluntary of course, but it is a bit more helpful if the other members know where ypu're from and maybe a little about your experience level(?).
We welcome everyone of all levels but it's kind of pointless telling you something you've known for years

move to the head of the class and get yourself a Bosch 4100...
far superior than what you are looking at and Bosch's CS/TS run circles around the the other outfit's CS/TS...

I have to add my vote to the Bosch column. A friend of mine expanded the table surface area by building a larger top with an opening into which the saw fits. He adjusted the saw height to precisely match the plywood surface height. He also added laminate to the top to make workpieces slide easily.

Don't quite understand, Tom, the bosch 4100 has the expandable to the right table top with a flip of a lever, not sure how a cut out works.

I have the Bosch 4100 and it is a great little saw, I wanted a model to set on a base cabinet so took off the folding mobile stand to gain some room in the shop.

Welcome Beast. You didn't fill out your profile so I can't be sure exactly what your needs are or how much room you have. As good as the 4100 and maybe one or two other small saws are, there is a decent possibility you could pick up a good used saw on Craig's list for the same or less money. A friend of mine wanted to upgrade from his old Rockwell Beaver 10" saw to something newer. He offered it to me for $100. I took it. I already had a 90s model Unisaw but up till then I was using a cheap craftsman for a second saw. The Rockwell has either a 1 1/2 or 2hp motor compared to the 3hp my Unisaw has. I added an Accusquare after market fence to it and most of the time it will do almost anything the Unisaw will. So for under $400 you can get a saw that will cut circles around the 4100 or any saw like it. It may take some time but those deals are out there.

Cannot beat Bosch 4100 for diy or jobsite...great fence, no need for aftermarket...make a crosscut sled for it and sleep comfortably...

and it will handle a full dado blade set...

Imagine a large table with two layers of top. the distance between the two tops is slightly more than the height of the saw. Now cut out an opening in the top layer just the same size as the saw. Shim the feet of the saw and place it in the opening. Now you have a large, stable top that serves as an extension and outfeed table. My friend had a 2x4 attached to the ceiling that extended down and held a dust collection port just above the blade. He did a lot of woodworking for his boat and liked the extra support of an extended table. Just mentioning it because it was a nice setup. He could still take it out of his shop if needed. It was his personal preference.

If space is a problem, the 4100 has both an outfeed, and left side extension available which work out well. They slide in under the top when not in use. Also the Gravity Rise Stand is great.

Whichever you go with, Lowes has coupons on Ebay that you can get for around $1. You can get $60 off of $600 for 1-2 bucks. Hope that helps.

Hey. Hope that wasn’t against the rules. Just a tip I learned a few weeks ago and according to he manage at my lowes he said it’s fine.
