They’re not Speaking

:mad:I’m so frustrated with my 3018 CNC right now, I just don’t understand.
It worked yesterday.🤣 I’m new to CNC and this forum and I hope I can get help so I can make my first carve. Yesterday I was able to home and zero my machine, it was so easy driving my spindle all around the carving area using mach3 software. Today I mounted my material and tried to zero it but my spindle won’t move. I checked everything I could think of and it still wouldn’t move, but I could control the spindle and get it to spin, so there was some communication going on but nothing to my stepper motors. My spindle will spin but it won’t move.
If anyone has any suggestions please help.
Thanks, Philip

welcome to the forum, Philip.
I'm so sorry you are having such a difficult time with your CNC. This IS the place to bring your CNC questions. The only issue you may have is finding someone that is familiar with your 3018 model. This is the weekend and some folks are out doing other things. So please don't get discouraged if you don't get any answers right away. There are several very knowledgeable members that can hopefully help you.

Phillip,
I don't know your machine, but I saw another post where the spindle was powered seperately and the cnc electronics had to emergency stop button stuck down. All they had to do was pull it back up and things were back to normal. Most likely not the problem, but it's a quick thing to check...
welcome, John - where you been for the past 12 years ??

Did you use the Reset button in the Mach3 software? You can't jog, or home the machine unless you reset first.

Rex Thanks for your help.
Today I got a few recommendations to try. I hope one works.

Thanks Mike, I’ll check it out and hope that’s the problem.

No, not the problem, wish it was. Thanks

Deep space... ;) Just purchased a OneFinity Journeyman CNC and eagerly awaiting it's delivery. In the meantime, I'm hitting the router forums to get back up to speed.

Start a new thread when you get your 1F and show us what you've got!
If you're in Mach3 and click the Reset button does it stop flashing? If not, check to see if your emergency stop button is on. If so, then it should just be a simple twist of the red button, the click Reset in Mach3.
One worthwhile and easy test is grab and try to turn the manual thumbwheel on one of your axis stepper motors (hope they have thumbwheels on the backside). Are they stiff, which means the stepper driver is engaged? Or are they loose, which means the stepper driver is disabled?
Mach 3 or Grbl?
