Hi, colleagues.
Recently I accepted a job as welding inspector in a 24/7 project. One of my duties is to check the root welding pass for several welded joints using a non destructive testing methohd named penetrant dyes. In my younger times it was a time consuming task to elaborate the final report for the activitiy due to the lot of involved data to check.
To make it easy I took some material from my wooden scrap bin to make several small acrylic blackboards to write all the needed data for several welded joints, make a picture and gather all the info to fill out the final reports. With these four pieces I can cover 8 welded joints.

I worked briefly at North American Aviation where they built the Apollo and its service module. After that terrible fire, we had to photograph every bit of every piece that went into the capsule. We used cards to document what the part was, the date of manufacture and any other relavent information. No white boards in those days so we used index cards with markers. You revived some long-ago memories of one of my first real jobs.

Good to hear that you've found work, Alexis. Did you use my cellphone for a pattern to cut those boards? ;)

In these kind of projects you´ll never know when a phone call requiring your services may arrive.

Yes, Joat.
After being QA/QC Supervisor I accepted this job as a welding inspector to be busy. The payment is less than expected but is better than nothing.
Yeah. When I got laid off and was looking for work, got a LOT of "you are overqualified for this job". And then they would hire someone younger, who was UNDERqualified for the job.
