My head is spinning after having watched several videos covering reviews on both the PanoRouter and The Router Boss. Let me preface this post with the fact that I have both a new Leigh Super FMT for making mortise and tenon joints and a new Porter Cable 4012 Dovetail jig for through and half dovetails. Buttttt, looking at the PanoRouter the possibilities seem far greater if not a bit more confusing at first like any new machine. And then there's the Router Boss which can do most all of the same plus raised panels. Of course you can just buy them all, end up in the poor house, probably divorced, and alone with your tools living in a remote shed somewhere. Ok maybe a bit dramatic but I wouldn't bet the house on that. Is there anyone here familiar with both the PanoRouter and the Router Boss to give some sage advice on the limitations between the two? I have to admit from what I've seen on-line about the Router Boss it seems like a great machine but seldom do I hear/see reviews after someone has had and used it for an extended period of time. Either machine is an investment so I'd really prefer to see one in person but that's very unlikely at this point. As neither has a Black Friday special it's not a pressing matter but one I'm very interested in pursuing. I bought the Leigh Super FMT on an impulse due to it's being dropped from production and the great sale price. I even bought the additional templates and the dust collection port. It seems to do a decent job from my testing but not as easily as the other two machines above. I have been looking at reconditioned Festool Domino 500 set but that seems to be a one trick pony but alas excellent on what it does with floating mortises but for not alot more there's these other two machines. And then of course I'm hoping that there maybe a holiday special making it a bit easier to convince the better half how much I really need this.
Of course with the up coming shoulder replacement on Dec. 17th I may have a sympathy card to play especially if she ins't thinking about the things I do that she'll have to for at least a few months. But if I go this route I'd prefer to have it setup before the surgery to have all the heavy work out of the way.
So that's my story, anyone with some sage advice? And don't be asking about possible estate sales, I've already survived two knee replacements and a cardiac ablation procedure in the last 6 years. I'm not going anywhere soon, at least not without screaming and clawing.......
