I have a router cutter with a top bearing that gives a 3 degree leading edge to doors. I position the router cutter with the bearing touching the top edge of the door. In theory the cutter should never cut any deeper than the bearing allows. However when i start up my router, the point when the cutter starts to turn, always leaves an imprint deeper than the rest of the cut. Any thoughts on what i am doing wrong?

Can you post a picture of the bit and an example of the cut as described? BTW, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you starting the router with the cutter against the wood? Maybe, start the router and then ease it into position..

I've never used one but perhaps clamping a guide to the door would help. Rather than using the door itself as the guide.
