Triton follow up

Well, to say I’m disappointed is an understatement!
Got my triton mounted in my table using a Kreg plate. I drilled my own holes so it would be set on the same angle like Marc Sommerfeld had his. Turned out great!
Turned it on ( with a bit installed) to try it out, and it makes a really strange, like growling sound. I have 8 other routers, and none have made this noise.
Thought maybe it was just the “nature of the beast”, I tried a few different bits. Went from bad to really bad when I got to a panel raiser.
The table was shaking so badly, that almost everything I had setting on top landed on the floor. Ugh!
Was really expecting to flip the switch and get that satisfying “whirring” sound of a new router.
Now to box it all back up and drive the 60 miles to exchange it.
Did I just get a lemon?? I really hope so because otherwise, I love this thing!

How does it run if you're holding it, not mounted in the table?
Hi David
It still has that strange growling noise, and kinda gives your hands a tingley feeling

Had the same issue with my first TRA001, vibrated like crazy. Had to pay the return to another country myself, costed quite much. Got a replacement, not perfect that either but much better than the first one. Not super impressed.
Never had any problem. It's defective. I bought mine at Home Depot, which has a great return policy, but didn't have to use it.

I wonder if the brushes are damaged? There are caps on each side into which the spring-loaded brushes fit. Someone had another brand with this problem some time back. If there's powder or the brush is cracked or broken that could do it. Return and replace is the best way to go.

Amazon also has a good return policy. But check the brushes first and if damaged, you can get a replacement set and try again. But there will be grit inside and it needs to be blown out. But return it if you can. It's a great machine. Check with the seller to see if they will replace it for you.
At the store now. Guy checked it and said it’s vibrating bad, plus he smell a really funny smell like something is burning. Gave me a new one no questions.
They let me put a huge bullnose bit in it and it ran smooth.

That's great news! Which store. Good service deserves credit.

Now that you have a good one I think you will find it a joy to work with!
