Triton JOF001 not engaging spindle lock

787 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Kirkbyfox
Hi
I am trying to mount my JOF001 Rueter to a router table but cannot get it to plunge deep enough to engage the spindle lock when it is mounted on the table ( or to that matter when it is not mounted) it seems to stop about half an inch from its full depths of plunge. I have checked the power interlock switch and that is not causing the problem so I am now lost. Any advice would be gratefully received

  • Can't plunge deep enough: Check the depth stop or turret.
  • Can't engage spindle lock: Is the lever obstructed somehow? You have to turn the spindle till the lever finds the hole to lock in.
Sorry if I'm insulting you, I don't know your knowledge level.

Thanks, I won’t be offended when people are trying to help me :)

I am not an expert but am fairly knowledgable on power tools in general.

the depth stop is not engaged, the problem is that the plunge depth will not allow the spindle lock to auromantically engage, I can engage it by turning the spindle. The cam on the spindle lock should engage when the router is at its maximum plunge depth, but it stops short of that by about 1/2 inch About where it would stop if the safety interlock was active on the power switch but I have checked and it is not.
