Triton TRA001 bought second hand but stuck

Hello from Australia.
Bought a second hand Triton TRA001 router and it looks like it had very little use but the cap that covers that massive plunger spring is broken off ☹. I tried fixing it but failed as the pressure is so high .
Anyway I think it’s an older model as it doesn’t have the table top adjuster feature .
What I need to know is … why can’t I adjust the height ? It’s pushed down ( meaning up towards a table top but not high enough to change a collet or bit .
The only movement is by micro adjuster . The side handle doesn’t turn and I loosened all knobs .
I have a hitachi tr12 router and that’s easy to adjust . I cannot see corrosion holding the thing locked .
Not sure how to post a pic but it’s orange 😊.

Welcome to the forum.
Hi and welcome to the fun. Triton has all kinds of spare parts. Here's their website: https://www.tritontools.com/en-US/Support
Hi @Routerdental , and welcome to the forum.

The broken cap is no problem if you are using the router in a table, as you take out the spring, anyway.

You should not need to loosen any knobs to use the router?

I attach a user manual for the TRA001 which may help.

That’s great Re the pdf manual . I’ll update if I can get the router to lift . I’ve used penetrating liquid on the shafts . All the screws are loose at the moment .

I have read the manuals you sent me and all is correctly unlocked . The router is just stuck fully down . Penetrating liquid Penetrene was used and still nothing .
Also is it possible to modify this older model to make it adjustable like the newer ones or easier to buy the new model ?
Well I think the router is jammed at the knob gear mechanism. Has anyone taken one of these apart ? How does the knob come off ?
I had that happen on my TRB001 (not fixed yet)....Bit loathe to pull it apart.

I mentioned this problem on the Australian Wood Forum and they sent me a file from Ray Girling in UK.

I will see if I can find it and send you the link.

Wow James, that is a very thorough breakdown of the process. Glad we all keep these older files around.
