A small piece of maple was given to me as a gift, first pic. I re-sawed off a 1/2" slice and cut this. For the pattern I just did a screen capture off the internet and printed. This is about 4.5" square. Finished with Minwax pre stain conditioner, Minwax Golden Oak stain, and a couple of coats Minwax Tung Oil mixed with Waterlox varnish (16:1). A close examination shows how inconsistent my scolling is. Sometimes I think the grain of the wood pulls the cut away from the pattern or maybe my 'shakes' are more problematic than I know?

Anyway thanks for looking.

Very intersting, kind of modern. Four of these in a LED lantern would be very decorative.
Very nice.

Great Job!

Also, FYI: The grain patterns in some wood species may tend to affect results with Routing (usually with the grain). However, a scroll saw blade cuts through the grain patttern and no effect should be experienced (unless you reach a knot in the wood).
