Many areas can't find Toilet Paper, but there's a replacement for residential TP - Commercial TP! Just have to be sure to get the two layer embossed type. Look at the ratings before buying. And then build this.
It’s 21.25” x 9.5” for the back and however for the bottom.
Cut a 4.75" radius on the back.
You can use the same size disc for both the base and the open end of the can, that way you only need 1 or 2 screws to hold the can on back.
Use a 1/4" bolt long enough to give you 3/4" length on the inside of the outer disc to hold the plastic face on, a tee nut on the outside would be a good way to secure the bolt if it recesses below the outside surface of the open end disc.
The plastic is 3/16" minimum thickness cut to 7" wide x 9" high. I drilled the bolt hole @ 2" from the right and 5" down. Cut the radius and sand to smooth it. The right edge is beveled with the back edge wider than the front and left rough to act as a tearing strip, but smoothed from the bolt hole down to the bottom for safety.
Place the plastic on the bolt in a vertical position, tightened with the knob. Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill a hole in the plastic and wood disc 1/3" or so from the top of the wood disc. Remove the plastic and put a round head screw in the wood disc hole, tightened down.
Using a 5/16" bit, carefully drill into the plastic in the 1/8" hole to ream out enough room for the screw head. This will lock the plastic in place when the paper is torn.
Finish as desired.
Place the paper on the tin can hub, then the plastic and knob.
Use as needed.

I think before the lock-up, everybody was doing it at work, using the commercial TP while also on the clock getting paid to sit there. Now with everybody at home 24/7 there is a greater need for the non commercial version. I know some are hoarding it, but it doesn't seem to explain the total demand. If the commercial version is readily available, my theory might be correct.

Thanks Nick. Figured someone may have a need and that's why it's here.
Brian, I thought about that but figured it's an easy way to get a buzz (short circuit). Besides, my cat can provide enough power if I let him.

What to do when it's out of time for corn vintage?
First you eat the corn, then you dry out the cob, very useful then. N
