I saw others using rubber bands as clamps when gluing, but my first try I couldn't get it square, so I threw in some L Brackets to brace the corners at 90degree angles.
not sure if others do this... but its so much easier for me than using the strap or band clamp.

Beautiful work and a good idea. Did you have difficulty finding a bracket that was a true 90 degrees or are they made that accurately?

Simple and inexpensive; great idea.
Did you check them for 90deg, with your square?
The brackets I mean...they're just punched out by machine, not necessarily accurate but easy to correct.

Hi,Stephanie; you could glue a strip of wood along the inside face of each bracket, staying back from the corners. Maybe 1/8" thick material?

Just another tip when using glueups and clamps-
Any time I'm working with glue... I keep a roll of wax paper out in the shop. Keeps my "clamps and braces" used in clamping from getting glued to my work... And when using anything metal with wood, keeps the metal from discoloring the wood.

Ended up buying an extra roll for the shop, so Sharon wouldn't complain about me using her's... LOL.

Up here I save the ones wrapped around the broccoli etc for short elastics or the post office/ mail carriers use the longer ones for bundling letters. The Staples store also has them to sell.
