McFeeley square head screws? Unique drive that limits stripping out screw heads.
they are square drive finishing screws, and are used for finishing. They are used in place of finishing NAILS. The diameter of the head is small like the head on a finishing nail. For the head to be made on this screw a standard philips drive would not be large enough to provide the needed torque to drive the screw properly thus a square drive head is used to provide the grip and keep the head in the needed cofiguration.
They are self tapping trim screws best used for fastening moulding to drywall into steel studs.
You hit this on the head! They are indeed trim screws. The body is also smaller and they claimed that you did not need to drill pilot holes..... well maybe in some woods but the first time I did some oak it was splitsville... good thing I tried it on scrap first. So now I just drill everything first. By the way these are not new...
