This should be an easy one because I know you own a set or at least of few of these. You don't? Well put them on the shopping list.

Same as before, look at the attached image, be the first one to tell us what it is and how it used to win the 100 points. If you are the winner and own some tell me that and I will throw in an extra 50 points..... be honest

Forstner Bit:

Forstner-pattern bits are used wherever edge-holding ability is needed, such as in the overlapping holes of a mortise.
The razor rim allows the bit to hold perfectly, even if the brad point is over a void.

And for the second time today we have first correct answer from Snowshoe!

They also do a flat bottom hole which it a real plus for a lot of projects.

Gee if you know that much about the bits it would seem you should own a set...... plus you could have gotten the extra 50 points......

100 point are yours

:p Gotta learn to quit jumping at the answer so fast and 'read the fine print'. Yes, I do own Forstner bits. I have 2 sets currently.

I started out with a 5 piece set from a second hand store, planning on replacing them with better quality bits as necessary. Then came across a good deal on a 19 piece set at Costco (local warehouse store).

My only real problem with using Forstner bits is that I keep them right next to the drill press and use them constantly -- when I really should be using standard bits in many cases.

My story is much the same.... well a little different I got a small set of good bits but with the limited sizes I knew I had to get a set in 1/16" steps then of course you need a 25mm and a 30mm and a few others..... They do such a nice job it is hard not to use them all the time....

Anyway I'm sending the extra 50 points......
