These are also nice on older computer systems. The "box" plugs in the wall, the computer plugs in to the power tool outlet. Then you can have the printer or what have you plugged in the accessory plugs. When you turn the computer on the the other accessories are also turned on.

In the shop I hook the router into the tool outlet so when it gets turned on the "dust collector" gets turned on........ something the router workshop guys need. You could add a light to the other accessory plug or buy one of those old electic clocks that plug in, set it to 12:00 and see how long you use the router in the shop that day......... You do know that by law the router gets a break every two hours, right?

Sounds like a bad choice of words. "BREAK" Don't like to hear that in a woodshop. Maybe a "rest period" but never a break.

Ed, I know it's easy to switch your computer and peripherals on with one switch; do yourself a favor and use a good surge supressor strip instead. My local electric company decided to change a transformer without telling anyone. They paid for the damaged appliances and computers but the inconvenience and wait for reimbursement made a believer out of me.

Now is the time when you dig out the random house/? your brand dictionary and look up the word break..... a whole column worth of reading...... so many uses for this word!

BTW I was just making up the law thing..... just to make sure people were still reading. So if you want to use your router all the live long day go ahead its OK.....

Good point! I have an outlet strip that does that for the electrical and has a phone one to boot. So if you are on a modem use that as well! The power tools in the shop should be unplugged if they can be..... right?
