Mine is a Craftsman Ed. I have a number on the opposite side in red. I haven't a clue as to why it is in red. So, I await some one to answer so I will know.
Opposite the 8" mark when you turn the rule over should be 64" !!!reible said:I know this looks like art work but the intent is to let you look at it and tell us about it. Give some details...... yes most of us can guess it is a rule of some sort..... tell us more! we want more! we want more! we want more!
The first good complete answer get 100 points but wait!!
For an extra 50 points tell us:
If you look at the 8" mark and then you turn the rule over what is the number opposite the 8. This is model X46F.......

I'm going with your answer on the what is it part but I'll have to pass on the what is opposite the 8........ In fact I will let a few more guess at that or wait for someone to look it up.....ejant said:It is a folding carpenters rule with extension. The extension has a lot of uses mostly depth and inside measurements.
It is made by Lufkin and on mine the X46F is a plain ole X46 Located on the extension side between 0 and 1 inch. On the opposite it is located between the 1 and 2 inches. On both sides by the 8 inch is 212 Tb
Not on the "F" model........steveo said:Opposite the 8" mark when you turn the rule over should be 64" !!!
Rule should read left to right, and when you turn it over should read right to left.

These are old time tools..... but handy. The ends at the folds come out on an even inch measurement so if it is folded out against a drawer inside the folded end is 13" and if you slide the brass rule out to the 3" mark to reach the other side the inside of the drawer is 13"+3" or 16". I loved to play with them as a kid making all sorts of designs....... I guess I never grew up, I still do that.reible said:I'm going with your answer on the what is it part but I'll have to pass on the what is opposite the 8........ So you get the 100 points but the other 50 is still up for grabs......
