"What is it?" #89

For this one we will do something a little different. This is a tool to be used in a drill press. It works to chuck drill bits. Now to win you must tell us why this is used rather then just putting the small drill bit in the drill press chuck..... I am looking for one answer so you have to get the one I'm thinking of...... I have sealed the answer in a pop bottle and it sitting on funky and wagners front porch.......

Remember you have to get the answer I'm thinking of.... to be fair post only one answer per post and do not post twice in a row.

I guess I can afford 100 points for this one........

Good luck

Uhhh, cause the jaws on the standard drill press chuck won't close far enough to grip that teeny-tiny bit.
Yeh, when most drill chucks close all the way, there is still a gap in the teeth that goes around the drill. I have put a drill in a chuck, tighten it all the way, let go of the drill bit, and watch it fall out.
It is a chuck to be able to use wire drill bits in your drill press rather than a pin vise. Usually #61 through 80

Everyone did so well on this....... Yes most drill presses have a chuck that goes from 1/16" to 1/2". If the drill is smaller then the 1/16" it may not chuck it at all. The solution is one of these. This one will go down to a #80 drill so for most of us this is small enough...... #80 = .0135" (.343mm) if for some reason you need a #97 (.0059") tough luck I guess. I should also point out these are rated for speed as well and this one is 3500 rpm so no using it in the dremal at 20,000 rpm........

I was building some circuit boards some years back and got this.... then I got the dremal small drill press..... table moved, followed by the larger "sear" drill press where the tool moved.......
