The guys over at the 'Creek' came up with this one and are looking it over.

The markings are Max Ez and there looks to be a PC 310 motor strapped to it.

I was thinking angled boring for something like pocket holes or dowels but other than that it's got me stumped (not hard to do btw)

Tom I`m going to guess that it`s for pocket holes, I`ve seen something similar to it before. I tried googling Max EZ but it`s too generic.

The OP at the 'Creek' now says it's a 'thumbnailer' to route grooves for plastic inserts to join miters.

Almost looks like something that Betterley would put out along with all of their other router gizmos

I`m not so sure about that one Tom. In order to route or drill something to join two miters the router would have to be oriented 90* to the face of the miter or it won`t match the one on the opposing miter. The orientation of the router in that photo appears to be 45*.

Yeah, hard to tell how it works without a more complete view.
It does look like a 45° setup, looks like the router adjusts up and down at a 45° and slides back and forth, plus the way the wood is situated in the picture might be wrong, if you flip it the miter should be in the proper orientation for a perpendicular groove to be made.
Or the stock is actually sitting in a notch and it gets mitered after the groove is formed.

Even so the clamp setup seems awkward in my view, dunno.... Maybe Pat can figure it out?

Kreg jigs has an automatic pocket hole machine called a Max. Not sure if it is the same device.

It does look like it's set up for slotting or drilling...
