Why Photograph Your Projects?

We've all heard that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." But for our purposes, the operative word is eye. If you want to market or display your products, they have to be seen by somebody.
So unless you plan to go door-to-door and personally show your project to everyone, your only real option is taking photographs. And the quality of those photographs have a huge impact on how successful you are.

Is Video much better?
Hi Tiger:

I would think the first rule is to keep it simple. Video gets too much into quality of photography and editing whereas a simple digital photo with a reasonable resolution camera, >7Mp, would to just as good a job.

If you're photographing it for posterity or local consumption, video would be OK, but the minute you put it on the internet, you have to consider download times, speeds and line quality which would dictate that you reduce the size as much as possible. Where I live, I have high speed but the next village (26 km away) have only dialup over poor quality voice lines. I've even used dual dialups to try to get the speed up, often with little effect.
