Long-Term Sawdust Addict, asking: I have heard from experts, that there is a certain species of wood used for Rocking Chair Runners to combat the wandering affect while rocking the chair. The best species was specific; However, the name of the species escapes me today. I have searched other sites, but have found no specific species mentioned for Chair Runners. I do know, you have to use top quality materials, for the best results when it comes to Rocking Chairs.
Thank you in advance for any info..

You might find a ton of inspiration and information from a search about Sam Maloof.
His rocking chairs are considered to be the highest in quality, design and construction.
Here is a link from a quick Google search.

Thank You All for your Help! I believe it was "Hickory" that I heard mentioned as the Best wood to stop the wandering of a rocking chair in motion. Much appreciated! Wish you all the best of the Season!

A word of caution. The hardwood lumber yards i have dealt with have hickory and pecan in the same bin so you better be careful. I don't know if pecan is as likely to be straight grained and not prone to easily splitting.
