Bob, I have long suggested making use of the space under a saws extension wings for storage. There are many ideas floating around. I would suggest that it is easier to have simple cabinets on castors so they can be pulled out for access and slid back under for storage. In a limited size shop you don't want to be relocating the saw every time you need something from a drawer. As far as an easy to make lifting mechanism build a frame from 2 x 4's and drill holes through it, install insert nuts in the bottom and use bolts to lift the frame high enough to isolate the castors. A few swings of a ratchet or wrench on each bolt and checking with a level assures a stable work surface. Here is another idea built from a commercially available plan.
