Bosch 1590 EVSK Jigsaw
Review Score: 9
It's not the barrel-grip which I would have preferred but I think this is probably the best jigsaw you can get without paying twice as much and 89 for a lightly used one seemed too good to pass up.
I know jigsaws aren't typically very loud but man is this thing quiet and smooth cutting. I don't have an actual shop or even a garage so I typically drag a B&D workmate outside to the porch or out back (if it's particularly noisy/messy) and keep it to less than an hour a day to avoid pissing off the neighbors. I have no problem using this saw out on the porch any time of the waking day or night. It's about as loud as a sewing machine.
All operation is completely toolless. Blade swapping is done easily and the teeth that snap down around the blade to keep it from wandering do a great job of contributing to perfectly square cuts. Adjusting for bevel cuts is quite easy once you know how but may take some actual manual reading to sort out the first time.
Some might find it a little heavy but I think it's about the right weight and that the heft contributes to stability.
And it really moves through wood quickly on the orbital setting. I have no need or desire to purchase a real circular or table or even miter saw at this time. This may change when I move on to more demanding projects but the versatility a good jigsaw offers is great for an amateur geurilla woodworker like myself.
