Bosch VAC140A HEPA ready vacuum
The VAC140A is a HEPA ready vacuum with some really nice features. It has a 14 gallon tank and it comes with a heavy duty plastic bag for collecting rough debris. (reusable) Paper filter bags are available for capturing fine dust. The filter is flat and the design makes for more room in the tank. Changing the filter is done by pulling a latch handle and a door tilts up for easy access. The optional HEPA filter element can be swapped out with the standard filter in a matter of seconds with no tools.
The "140" can also be used as a wet vac. There is an attached drain hose which snaps into the rear of the vacuum for storage. To drain the tank you simply pull the hose out and lower it. No drain valve to get jammed up. The 140 also has an automatic shut off when the tank is full of liquid. Bosch even included a small foot pad to make it easier to tilt the vacuum so you can drain it fully.
The included hose has a twist lock feature to keep it in place. The pick up end of the hose has two small prongs you squeeze to remove the end attachment which fits Bosch power tools dust ports. (and many others) You can also use standard 2-1/4" vacuum hoses. A small angled pick up tube is included. There are other attachments designed to lock onto this hose; more about that later.
This vacuum is available with a 9 gallon tank as well, the VAC90A.
The A suffix denotes the auto clean function; every 15 seconds the filter is cleaned. Both models are also available with an S suffix where the cleaning function is done by turning a switch.
If you are using the vacuum with a tool like a jig saw or sander they can be plugged into the vacuum so both activate with the tools switch. The outlet is limited to 7.5 amps. I would use this feature with the Colt but all other routers should be on a separate power cord.
The 140 has large rear wheels and small locking swivel castors on the front. The hose stores in hooks built into the case and there are two elastic bands to keep it there. The top of these vacuums accept L-Boxx storage containers so you can move the vacuum and tools easily on job sites or around the shop.
Plenty of power, I would give this a 10 out of 10 rating.
