Default Rockler Vacuum Chuck

Rockler is now offering a vacuum chuck kit, minus the vacuum pump, that is available from them separately. The kit 2 vacuum chucks, fittings, and hose is on sale now at $59.95. I'll probably buy them, but I've already spent my tool allowance for August.

Harbor Freight sells vacuum pumps, the one I have is "rated" at 3cfm, and around $150.00. I may have to look at those chucks.

Saw this the other day. looks like it works by hooking up to an air compressor. Not sure if you have to keep the compressor running the whole time or whether you can put a shutoff in the vacuum line and turn it off once you've pulled a vacuum. Seems cheap enough though.

I think you're correct, Tom. My fear would be that the vacuum might deteriorate if the compressor wasn't running, and the work piece suddenly let go. Maybe groundless concern?
In any case, seems like a fair price at $80 for that kit, plus of course the clamping kit.

You can build your own vacuum pump from an old refrigerator. Lots utube video that will show the process.
