Default Hitachi Miter Saw/Infiniter Laser Guide

I've been eyeing the Hitachi 10" Miter Saw (model C10FCE2) for some time. Amazon is having one of their Deal of the Day specials on it today fr $99, link here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

This saw gets solid reviews, and the laser version is a lot more expensive. I was considering purchasing the Infiniter Laser Guide separately, Rockler link is here:

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?O...Select=Details

Any thoughts from owners of either or both of these would be welcome. I'm dithering on whether to continue relying on my table and circular saws for cutoff tasks... and your feedback would be helpful.

Thanks!

Bob

Hi Bob

Nice saw but I would pass on the laser, I have one and could not get the light just right on the board, it's off set so to speak, I would suggest you mount one on the saw...that's right behind the blades or to say dead center with the blade..they are a bit higher in price..but that's next on my list..but I'm sure you know some of the saws have them built it..(laser light)

Nice Compond Mitre Saw.
But if you can afford it why not go one step up and get the Sliding Compound Mitre saw (SCMS) instead. SCMS will crosscut cut wider boards (up to 12" ?) and even DADOs.
Hitachi SCMS have very accurate slides.

Money, space, and frequency of need.

I actually dithered too long and before the sale day was ended the supply sold out.

I'm thinking that was not a bad thing... as I don't truly need a saw like this, it would really be more of a luxury.
