Default Another new "ole arn"...

Couldn't help myself...when my friend offered me his good ole Walker Turner drill press, I just had to have it.

For the longest time he used it for mortises...yes...he gave me the attachments also.

It needs a bit of cleaning but it hums like a beauty...smooth...true turning chuck...the whole shebang...put in a few drops of oil in the oiley thingie and away it went...

Based on the serial number it is a Type 2, 1952 version. Just a tad younger than myself...

Next step, but as a retiree I can't say when, cleaning and reassembly...

Here's some pics...(just to prove it really happened)

You mean the drill holes in the table...?

I'm guessing he was testing the accuracy of the swivel head...teehee...

If I could match the color, I might fill the ole girl's holes with a dab of JB Weld...don't think so...

Great acquisition, Nick, Those are a dream to use. Did the two spanner wrenches come with it to remove the chuck? How large of hp. motor does it have? It looks used but in great shape. I use my old Atlas ALL the time, and enjoy just how solid those old machines were built.

no spanner wrenches???
use a pair of fitted drift punches.. short or stubbies work better than long ones...

Like Herb I love how sturdy those old machines are. They didn't chintz on the amount of cast iron that went into them.
