Default Stack, sticker and put weight on them.

Stack, sticker and put weight on them. The more weight the better. Make sure there is plenty of air flow around the boards. You are going to have to wait a week or so, but it will be worth it.

A moisture meter is a great tool to use when shopping for wood and determining when it is safe to use. Try this one: https://www.amazon.com/General-Tools...5166&s=gateway

It is hard to beat for under $25. I use the meter when I am shopping at the "big box" stores for construction lumber. Even 2x12 pressure treated joists need to be checked. I purchase them months in advance and stack, sticker and put weight on them until they are dry enough to use. If I don't they will cause shrinkage problems after installation. Learned that in 2010 the hard way. Contractor showed up with 2x12 joists that looked like they had just been pulled from a lake. I insisted that he put in the "engineered joists" specified in the drawings. Contractor said it would delay the project a couple of weeks until he could get them. I fell for his BS. 6 months after the project was completed, my granite counter top cracked because all the new joists had shrunk and the existing ones didn't!!!

A moisture meter is worth the investment.

Gotta start paying attention to the grain thing. Never did before. Looked like nice wood - on the cart it went. My Bad.

I took the tests and retirement is the best job I'm suited for.
