Looking for recommendations for a better/ longer lasting brand square driver bit for Kreg pocket screws. Anyone? The Kreg brand don't seem to last too long without rounding out.

I just use a no name #2 square drive bit for many years. Had no problems. I still have the long bits that came with the Kreg kit.

I don't over torque them...

Gary, they are a #2 Driver Bit. I've used them at work for 27 years and almost all round off fairly easily. I always thought some of it was me not having the bit in and in line. With that aside in the last 6 months have started using a solid black bit. They are noticeably better and more durable. They are not Milwaukee, or Bosch. I don't know their name but will get it for you.

That's been an issue for me and pocket screws in themselves as the angle to drive them and the bit leave little room to actually line it up properly and in the beginning I was driving them at full speed, with the clutch set of course. I couldn't tell if it was the softness of the screw head or the driver....maybe both. I did find when using McFelly's screws I had less of an issue. Is the head deeper/stronger, I really can't say.

The original two Kreg bits that came with my kit which is about 10 years old are both in great shape. I think your right about making them cheaper. I use mostly #2 pan head screws from work for most all of my pocket screws which saves a Kreg pile, I mean a lot of money.

I have seen Torx style screws with a truss head format that I think worked well for me (GRK probably). I personally am no fan of square drive after using the Torx heads, and regularly have the camming out issue most times I use them, whether that’s as a pocket screw or not.

Speaking of pocket hole jugs, Armor Tools Auto Jig (and everything else on their site) is 20% of now (code: MONSTERDEAL). Here’s the link: Armor Tools Auto Jig. Very slick, too bad I already have the very nice HF unit.
